Hanyulso - [A] - i wish i used this more! u slightly recline on a heated dome and it relieves your back
Amethyst room - [A-] - it was hott but i enjoyed meditating on transforming negative energy into positive
Yellow Mud room - [A+] kinda loved the medicinally herbal smell of this one
Infrared Ray sauna - [A+] my favvv chillin spot u lay on the bamboo floor mat and there’s an infrared light that you can adjust to different parts of. your body i liked having it over my belly area microwavin my lil organs
Gold Pyramid sauna - i dont remember this one it was shiny
Bulhanjeungmak [A] - the hottest one you work your way up to - hot as shittttt omg u basically leave after 3 minutes when it becomes unbearable there’s an auntie manning this one to make sure nobody dies inside
Ice room [A-] - perfect right after Bulhanjeungmak & before bingsoo sundae
food was bomb esp shikhye the iced sweet rice drink just wish they made it not too sweet
real strawberries still exist🍓✨
i feel like strawberries u get at the store arent as sweet as they used to be, so i rarely buy them. however i recently tried oishii strawberry for the first time & had to investigate the hype 🕵🏻♀️ one would think they came from japan but they’re actually vertically farmed in jersey meaning grown indoors where the environment is manually programmed to replicate a perfect day in Japan. wes decided that we needed to investigate further but going on a shroomaloom-fueled field trip to Sussex Country Strawberry Farm where we picked 14 gallons of fresh-grown strawbs & then spent 6 hours cooking up 50+ jars of jam flavored with rhubarb+ginger, cinnamon+mint, & chili peppers (there was a learning curve). a delightful time with the cutest lil fairies in my life. i haven’t stopped eating strawberry jam in 3 weeks. atop Omi’s cream puff 🥐 or with a slice of brie on a slab of brioche 🧀🍞 or some coconut chia pudding 🥥 or just whipped & frozen with some cream 🍧 everything will now be purchased with $JAM
things i learned making jam:
immersion blender is essential in the kitchen
pectin is weird & hard to dissolve
you can infuse flavors into water but microwaving them
flavors need to be added at the end & not for too long, or they will cook out (we were just tooo excited)
sausages on a stick🌭🔥
realizing we didn’t actually need skewers because there’s skewers all around us (they’re literally just Sticks) & seeing this video among many other things further motivates me to keep spending time in nature. i had the best time producing this piece for Take Me Fishing in the beautiful Maple Falls, WA with the most creative hardworking people. i got a couple more camping items from the REI winter sale & was excited to get to put them to use:
Oaou v4 tent - [A] one of the sewn in brand tags ripped off which concerned me but we stayed dry in the rain which was great 😁 it did its job 😆 *note to self: always check if there’s a slight incline, feet always go downhill* the first night i felt like i was rolling down a hill. also this tent had 2 doors which is awesome! to not have to climb over each other if u have a buddy. ALSO i forgot to mention this tent it modular and the rainfly turns into hammocks. & it came with 2! which was so clutch because we used one to cover the picnic table with all the tools & food. doesn’t come with a footprint so you’ll need to get that separately~
snow peak stove - [F] - i think it’s a dud cuz we couldn’t get it to ignite & it sounded like it was leaking. will update
camping gear from Temu (mostly cooking gear) - [A-] - soo multi-functional - more for the use of a single person, not a group of seven. curious how long it will hold up~
e-tool shovel - [A+] - so multi-functional, used that shit to break wood for the fire, chop off head of the fish, observe the stars
compost toilet - [B-] - there was a cute outhouse and the sink had sexy human legs but i wish there was running water. it was nowhere as cool as the incinerator toilet.
fresh catfish - [A+] - not insanely difficult to prep, tasted amazing with loads of butter + some lemon garlic seasoning. also a fishing license in NYS is only like $10 for the year.
Ghosthorn fishing rod [A-] - i didn’t know how to take the dude off the hook & i didn’t have a net so the fattie snapped my rod as he flailed around. wasn’t sure if it was because of a strong big fish or a weak rod or even my poor technique. otherwise the rod is a sexy shiny green hornet color and the reel feels smooth & the line is a cool dark green cotton(?) string instead of the classic clear fishing line.
Merrell gore-tex hydro-mocs [A++] - fucking loove these. they’re a pair of soft gore-tex rainbooties that slip into adjustable spiky-ish rubber hydro-mocs which are essentially crocs. + i get so many compliments & the rainboots add a splash of gorp-core to any outfit.
Nike ACG smith summit pants [A+] - another staple. the 2-in-1 shorts to pants to shorts perfect for bugs but its hot! but it’s cold. so versatile & cool & sturdy & so many pockets!
Gilbert Lake State Park - quaint! cute lil beach that kept opening & closing & opening due to the scattered thunderstorms. didn’t catch anything here.
Hipcamp [A] - everyone in new york state gets the same idea when it’s nice enough outside to go camping so all the public campgrounds get booked up fast so this app is a great alternative for finding a campsite. it’s like Airbnb for people with private land who rent it out as campsite - lots of ranches & farms, nice hosts, great idea
bonus: clowns🤡
i, like everyone i assume, used to be very afraid of clowns, but recently some friends are immersing themselves in the art so ofc i had to investigate. the circus is actually such a beautiful human form of expression the way everyone has their own unique set of skills & risks: from the lion tamers who communicate with these big dangerous cats to the acrobats who defy physics, each artists has their own way of connecting to the cosmos.
thanks for reading :3
